Mashed Potato Sunday!

What happens when you have a mashed potato Sunday and a bunch of theater students at the house? You raid my costume closets and go play dress up for the camera! We decided to get crazy and do photos! My poor studio looked like a tornado went thru after we threw down all the costumes. We didn't even wear all of them - I just have so many! The jewelry was everywhere, there were wigs hanging from everything.....I think the theme for the night was PINK!

We are planning another one of our "mad" nights in January. I think it's a good, fun release of energy. Theater people and artists are always looking for some type of outlet. For the photos, I used colored gels (of course! it's theatrics!) and a fog machine....ooooooo!! We wanted to go for cheese and fun and I think we accomplished both!!

Jason Hemphill came over and did the photos of me but I took all the others and he even got in on the fun! (He was "bubba" for the night!) He is a photographer friend of mine that used to live in Fayettville and we did some photo work back in the day together. Now he's located about 20 minutes from me. I think next time we'll come up with more of a theme and play on our ideas.....

Yay for friends and good times!

She is growing up so quickly.

Amelia turns 10 next month. TEN! It's amazing how quickly time is flying. Not that long ago she was just a little baby and now she's turning into this amazing young lady. She is so talented, talkative, smart and so funny. She is like a little comedian and I'm sure she learned it from her way cool dad. She is constantly making me giggle. She does all these funny little things and always telling these silly jokes. I know she learned half of them from Doug!

We did engagment photos yesterday of this super cool couple. She now tags along to hold my flash or reflector. She brings along her point and shoot and take photos, too. The couple couldn't stop laughing because she kept telling jokes and she'd point out some really cool places to shoot. She has quite the eye. They just adored her and loved the fact that she made them laugh. Despite all the things my little girl has gone through, she still smiles and is totally sweet. She has been through more emotional rollercoasters in ten years than most people have in an entire lifetime.

I am grateful that she has a strong supportive family on my side and the Marshall side. She also has 2 amazing grandparents from her old past as a Hudson. She really looks up to them and loves them with everything. Amelia has shown me over the years that it's about love. It's about caring. It's about good people. In ways, I look up to my 10 year old. She is a awesome kid!! Doug and I couldn't be more proud of her!

Some Fayetteville fun

Went to Fayetteville to visit mom and go to Antonio's bday party at Lokomotion. Mom left for Siberia 2 days ago. She'll be spending a month in Siberia (Russia) on a mission trip with the church. It was -10 degrees there about 2 days ago. It's only going to get colder and colder there!
Amelia and I had the crud.....we were out of school and it was not fun but at least we got it over with and it's done!
I'm about to take Amelia to the Halloween party at the community center........facebooking the pictures as soon as I can. Speaking of facebook......just an FYI to persons. I will communicate with anyone that I wanna communicate with - OK? Ok, so get over yourself and your ego. Ugh!

The State Fair

I am obsessed with fun, colors, costumes, and the fair. I try to go every year and bring along models dressed up for a shoot. Annacaye wore a black outfit out of my closet....skirt handmade by me and yes, it is stuffed with newspaper and trash bags.

Tim is wearing a jacket he found at a costume shop and the pants are out of a bag of clothes I got for free! Love sequined pants! They are great!

Crystal is wearing a blue costume we constructed out of different pieces in my costume closet.

Going to the fair with dressed up models is always a fun thing to do. People ask weird questions and you get strange looks, especially when you set up studio lighting with big battery pack.

The owner/director of the fair came up to me and was excited. He handed me a "fair" pin to give me access to the entire place and to let me in for free the whole week. Too bad it's raining. Oh well! I think I left a good impression on him! ;-)

Girls Night Out

Girls Night Out in Little Rock! GOOD TIMES!!!

I'm doing Girls Night Out again at the bridal shop

EVENT: Girls Night Out
WHERE: Alfred Angelo Bridal (corner of Markham and University)
WHEN: October 14, 2009
TIME: 6:00-8:00 pm

The event at Alfred Angelo shouldn't have lines of 1000's of people since the bridal shop is more specific - weddings! I will be there showing some work and talking to some way cool brides!

Look at that line!! They still had another hour to wait. The line wrapped around the building. They went thru the 1st 1000 bags in like 30 minutes. It was insane. I ran out of buiness cards, people were everywhere. It was the busiest event I have ever been to. The cool thing....I booked boudoir and got wedding inquiries. Pretty cool!

We met Korto Momolu...I am a big fan! I love project runway!

Annacaye and I in our vintage clothes!

Dog!

Amelia and I got to take Sheba to the city pool last weekend. Before they drain the pool, they let the dogs take the last swim. The animal shelter raised money by charging $8 per dog. Sheba played for over an hour catching a tennis ball. It was so much fun!

Tomorrow is Girls Night Out in Little Rock. I will be there to show boudoir photos and meet some cool ladies! I can't wait!
I have an arabic test in the morning and I hope I can remember all 13 letters that I have learned so far.
Happy Day!

Classes

I've decided I love Arabic! It's super hard but I love it!!!! So far we have learned basics like hello, thank you, I am from, What is your name, my name is.....we've done some letters and I get to write a page of my arabic letters that I've learned. Some of them are hard to pronounce especially the "khaal" sound. I've learned other words in arabic such as right to left, letters, line, page - random words! The cool thing is that when we do the arabic words I think of what they are in spanish as well. What is amazing to me is that I can remember the spanish word. Next semester I will take Arabic 2. By then I should be able to hold down basic conversations and read and write. I can't wait!!

The class that I'm struggling with is Human Behavioral Ecology....I'm just lost. I'm going to meet my instructor on Tuesday and scream HELP! I should learn help in arabic!!! ha! So now I'm going to be obsessed with arabic and guess what I'm doing now? Listening to Haifa Wahbe on youtube....if you've never seen her - go type in her name. She's gorgeous!
